The chairman of the Public Health Inspectors’ Association Upul Rohana says that although it was announced yesterday (3rd) that a person with the Omicron variant was found in Sri Lanka, the identity of the person has not yet been communicated to the Public Health Inspectors.
Mr Upul Rohana states that a PCR of a woman who had come to Sri Lanka with her husband to attend a conference in Nigeria on the 24th and her associates were sent and he is unaware whether yesterday’s announcement was regarding her.
Speaking further Mr Upul Rohana said, “We have not been officially informed who the woman is. However, the Epidemiology Unit had instructed the Mahawewa Medical Officer of Health Division to send the PCR of a woman suspected to be the infected woman and the PCR of her associates. It is from a house belonging to the Marawila Public Health Inspector's area. We have sent it.
This woman had come to Sri Lanka with her husband after attending a conference in Nigeria on the 24th.”
