Lunugamvehera Police have arrested a man claiming to be the coordinating secretary of a state minister while transporting 22 cattle stolen from Mattala to a butchery in Bandarawela.
The Sri Lanka Non-Violence Federation has issued a certificate to the main suspect as the Chairman of a Wildlife Organization in 2020. According to the police, the suspect had used this certificate to transport cattle without legal permission.
The suspect had been transporting the cattle, indicating that they were transporting cattle purchased from cattle herds in the area.
The suspect’s attempt to escape arrest by forwarding a letter issued by the Minister of State regarding the release of cattle had failed.
