Another Delta variant from Sri Lanka

Another Delta variant has been found in Sri Lanka, says Dr Chandima Jeewandara, Head of the Department of Allergy, Immunology and Cell Biology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
He also said that the new Delta sub-variant is B.1.617.2.104.
Previously, a Delta variant was identified in this country and it was known as B.1.617.2.287.
A new Covid strain being investigated in the UK is said to be more infectious than the common Delta variant and responsible for a tenth of new infections. It is referred to by some as the “Delta plus” variant.
