The Government Medical Officers’ Association says that so far 209 doctors have been diagnosed with coronavirus.
Among them are 27 doctors from the Colombo National Hospital and 17 doctors from the Corona Hospital in Homagama.
Hundreds of other health care workers have been reported infected with the coronavirus.
According to hospital sources, the health sector will be severely affected by this situation.
The first corona death of the National Hospital staff was reported a short while ago. A clerk at the National Hospital who was being treated for corona infection has died, hospital sources said.
