Many major cities across the country have been closed voluntarily, and trades’ associations are reportedly in talks to close more cities.
Currently, Kekirawa, Keppetipola, Yakkala, Gampaha, Veyangoda, Ambalantota, Ambalangoda, Bandarawela, Trincomalee, Balangoda, Matale, Palabaddala, Serunuwara, Dakkotuwa and Ulpatha have been closed down voluntarily by trade associations.
So far, cities have volunteered to close in the face of the rapidly spreading corona epidemic. It is reported that traders’ associations in several cities including Minivungoda, Embilipitiya and Divulapitiya are in discussions to close down their cities soon.
