Cabinet memorandum to increase rice prices

Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena has submitted a cabinet memorandum on the 10th to seek cabinet approval to increase rice prices.
According to the memorandum, the price of red and white raw rice has been increased to Rs. 95 / – and steamed rice to Rs. 98 / -. Red and white samba rice has been increased to Rs. 105 and keeri samba to Rs. 130 / -. Earlier the control price of a kilogram of keeri samba was Rs. 120 /.
The government is preparing to give cabinet approval to increase the price of rice at a time when people are facing a very difficult situation due to the increase in the prices of all commodities.
The government has officially worked out the price of rice in this manner despite the fact that it is being sold at a much higher price than what is being controlled by the government. Moreover, it is not available to consumers at a controlled price in any part of the country.
