A group of thugs including the Chairman of the Pradeshiya Sabha Nishantha Jayasundara had stormed in and brutally assaulted the residents of the area today (27) when they gathered to protest against the serious irregularities in the carpeting of the Rideemaliyadda Weeragolla road.
It is reported that most of the people who rallied for this protest voted for the Pohottu party during the last elections and this group was attacked by thugs including the chairman. The protest was led by a group including former JVP Provincial Councilor Sudath Balagalla and they too have been threatened by these thugs.
