Central Bank of Sri Lanka commemorates centenary of Communist Party of China

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka is preparing to issue a commemorative coin to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party, say reports.

The Central Bank traditionally issues coins to commemorate events of national importance in Sri Lanka. However, for the first time in history, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka is going to issue a coin to commemorate a political party in another country.
The Central Bank of China began issuing commemorative coins last Monday to mark the centenary of the Communist Party of China. Accordingly, the Bank of China has issued three gold coins, five silver coins and one copper coin.
