The Public Health Inspectors Association says the authorities have not yet heeded their union’s call for a complete lockdown or travel restrictions as the country is in a precarious situation.
Mr Upul Rohana, President of the Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association, says that his association will continue to make this request.
Mr Upul Rohana said that they had made several requests to the President and the Ministry of Health to take immediate action to prevent a dangerous situation in the country.
He said that as the number of patients infected with the covid-19 virus was increasing day by day, there were further delays in transporting patients to treatment centers.
He points out that patients have to stay at home for longer periods due to delays in finding hospitals and this is likely to increase the number of deaths.
He emphasizes that ground operations are not enough to prevent the spread of covid.
