It is learned that the government is preparing to keep Sri Lanka open to Indian tourists and direct them to hotels for quarantine and stop the repatriation of Sri Lankans who have gone abroad for employment.
This was revealed in a statement issued to the media today (29th) by the Minister of Corona Administration and Primary Health, Dr Sudarshani Fernandopulle. The Minister has stated that due to the quarantine process being continued in centers for about 12,000 Sri Lankans who have already arrived in the country, bringing in more Sri Lankans working abroad would have to be restricted.
Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga had stated at a discussion held yesterday (28) that there was no plan to restrict the entry of Indian tourists to Sri Lanka.
Until now, the government has been following a policy of neglecting to repatriate those who went abroad for employment and other activities in the face of the corona situation.
