197 new police stations across the country

Government sources reveal that 197 new police stations will be built in the country and 10,000 new officers will be recruited to man the new police stations.

However, the Minister of Public Security in charge of the Police has expressed a different view. He hopes to deploy the Special Task Force and the Army under the leadership of the Police to curb crime. It is stated that these operations will be carried out at various places across the country without prior notice.

These police stations are being set up with the objectives of cracking down on drug trafficking, money laundering and crime. It has been further stated that these police stations will be established in accordance with the President’s ‘Vision for Prosperity’ policy statement.
