However, evidence shows that Rajapaksa was initially arrested over financial crimes during the Ranil-Maithripala administration, largely due to strong public pressure demanding accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While in custody at the time, a series of articles titled &#8220;Kurahan Suwanda&#8221; (Scent of Kurakkan) was published in the Ada newspaper under his prison identification number, 5502.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following his initial arrest, the charges against Namal Rajapaksa were shelved after he reportedly
