A protest organized against the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which commenced this morning (24) near Polduwa Junction, continued through noon today. Meanwhile, heavy congestion was reported inside the Parliament canteen during the demonstration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rush inside the canteen reportedly occurred as certain groups within the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) escorted a handpicked group of protest participants into the Parliament complex to provide them with food and refreshments. Reports indicate that those brought inside were close confidants and loyalists of the leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This action has sparked discontent among the demonstration’s participants. While the vast majority of protestors remained outside enduring heavy rain without food or shelter, concern and criticism grew over the selective treatment provided exclusively to those close to the leadership.<\/p>\n
