{"id":27905,"date":"2024-12-04T21:38:43","date_gmt":"2024-12-04T16:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lankatruth.com\/en\/?p=27905"},"modified":"2024-12-14T20:51:21","modified_gmt":"2024-12-14T15:21:21","slug":"president-world-bank-executive-director-meet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lankatruth.com\/en\/?p=27905","title":{"rendered":"President &#038; World Bank Executive Director meet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The World Bank has expressed its commitment to supporting the Government of Sri Lanka&#8217;s &#8220;Clean Sri Lanka&#8221; programme, as announced by World Bank Executive Director ParameswaranIyer during a meeting with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat today (04).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congratulating the President on forming the new government, Mr. Iyer affirmed that all ongoing World Bank-supported projects in Sri Lanka will continue uninterrupted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting also provided an opportunity for President Dissanayake to outline his administration&#8217;s future development agenda. Key discussion topics included efforts to alleviate rural poverty and plans for economic digitalization, highlighted by the Digital Identity Card initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A comprehensive discussion was held on addressing the longstanding challenges faced by the people in the North and East, focusing on resolving land and housing issues affecting the plantation community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Dissanayake emphasized the government&#8217;s primary focus areas, including advancing agriculture, fisheries, tourism, education, and health. He underscored the importance of these sectors in fostering national development and improving livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response, Mr. Iyer stated that the World Bank is prepared to convene an advisory group to explore initial steps for supporting the government&#8217;s development priorities.
