Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya says that vocational Education should be a respectable choice that can lead to a clear future in Education, from school to higher Education, as it is a subject that contributes directly to the economy.
She said this while speaking at the official commencement of her duties at the ‘Nipunatha Piyasa’ at Narahenpita by Nalin Hewage, who has been appointed Deputy Minister of Vocational Education in the new government.
Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya said, “Education is considered a significant subject of the current government. Though we talk separately about Education, Higher education, and Vocational Education, they are three parts of the entire Education and should taken together. Our government pays special attention to vocational Education. In our country, vocational Education is traditionally viewed as a place to go for children who are left unable to do other things. That attitude must change. Vocational Education is a subject that contributes directly to the economy in particular. It should be an honourable choice that can lead to a clear future from school education to higher Education.
People have great faith in our policies. Institutional structural changes are needed to implement those plans.”
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Minister of Vocational Education Nalin Hewage said, “We are all children of free Education, so we are providing the necessary support to get the services of government officials in the government that people trust. Give your service to the society on behalf of this government. We have a huge responsibility. We will provide support in this regard.”
Deputy Minister for Education and Higher Education Dr. Madhura Seneviratne, Secretary to the Prime Minister Pradeep Saputantri, Secretary to the Ministry of Education Nalaka Kaluwewa, ministry officials and heads of affiliated institutions were present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
