It has been observed that many candidates who have submitted their nominations from Samagi Jana Bala Sanandhanaya and Ranil’s party have abandoned the parliamentary elections.
In other elections, as soon as preference numbers were given, it was common for people to display those numbers enthusiastically, start campaigning, and plaster the walls everywhere with posters staring at passersby. However, this time, no such enthusiasm is observed even after days have passed since the preference numbers were given.
In the meantime, some candidates have told journalists that they plan to carry out publicity activities in the last two weeks. Analysts have pointed out that the districts of Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, and Monaragala have been immersed in remarkable silence.<\/p>\n
