EC asks AG"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Election Commission says it asked the Attorney General&#8217;s Department in writing which Sri Lanka Freedom Party it should work with. This is said to be due to the party&#8217;s recent split into several factions. The Commission states that it will deal with the relevant faction based on the decision received from the Attorney General&#8217;s Department.<br \/>The Sri Lanka Freedom Party is divided into three factions &#8211; former President Maithripala Sirisena&#8217;s faction, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva&#8217;s faction and Member of Parliament Dayasiri Jayasekara&#8217;s faction.<br \/>Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva&#8217;s faction has stated that it will support President Ranil Wickramasinghe in the presidential election. Member of Parliament Dayasiri Jayasekara&#8217;s faction supports Mr. Sajith Premadasa.
