Dr. Fahima Sahadin, who works at the Kandy National Hospital was resting at home due to high blood pressure. However, when she came to know that the body of a two-month-old child, who was being treated in the 4th ward of the hospital, was turning blue, went immediately to the hospital and treated the child who was in a dangerous condition. The child was revived but Dr Fahima\u2019s blood pressure increased further, and she was admitted to the intensive care unit and died while receiving treatment for about ten days.
Dr. Janaka Jayasuriya of the Kandy National Hospital says that Dr. Fahima\u2019s blood pressure had risen to two hundred when she was admitted to the intensive care unit.
She was fifty-two years old when she died. Dr Janaka Jayasuriya points out that the tests revealed that Dr Fahima Sahadin died of internal bleeding due to a burst vein in her head due to high blood pressure.
Dr. Janaka Jayasuriya says that due to Dr. Fahima Sahadin’s efforts to save the sick child’s life, her blood pressure had increased. He said that during her service, she worked day and night with great dedication to the patients.
Dr Fahima Sahadin’s husband is a lecturer at Sabaragamuwa University and her elder sister is also a doctor. Dr Fahima’s eldest daughter passed the GCE results recently. Dr. Jayasuriya says that she has passed the A-level examination and has been selected for medical school and one of Dr Fahima\u2019s sons is still in school.
