{"id":20476,"date":"2023-03-09T12:47:32","date_gmt":"2023-03-09T07:17:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lankatruth.com\/en\/?p=20476"},"modified":"2024-01-09T12:47:54","modified_gmt":"2024-01-09T07:17:54","slug":"protest-by-women-for-rights-heats-up-polduwa-parliament-entrance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lankatruth.com\/en\/?p=20476","title":{"rendered":"Protest by &#8216;Women for Rights&#8221; heats up Polduwa Parliament entrance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A heated situation arose yesterday (8th) due to the attempt by the police to disrupt the peaceful protest organized by the &#8216;Women for Rights&#8217; (WFR) organization at the Polduwa entrance to the Parliament at Battaramulla.<br \/>WFR had organized this protest to celebrate International Women&#8217;s Day 2023 and to protest against the increase in prices of goods, taxes, electricity bills and postponing the elections. A large number of people including National People&#8217;s Power Parliamentarian Harini Amarasuriya, National People&#8217;s Power Colombo City Council candidate Vray Kelly Balthasar participated in
