Jagath Alwis has resigned after giving a statement to the CID.<br \/>The immediate reason for his resignation is based on a false statement made by Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon regarding the Rajapaksa mob attack.<br \/>Deshabandu has become the main government official responsible for failing to prevent Rajapaksa&#8217;s attack on Gotagogama. Deshabandu has stated that it was on the orders of IGP Wickramaratne and former Secretary to the Ministry of Public Defense Jagath Alwis that the attack on Gotagogama was not stopped.
