{"id":16776,"date":"2022-01-11T15:34:49","date_gmt":"2022-01-11T10:04:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lankatruth.com\/en\/?p=16776"},"modified":"2022-01-11T15:35:09","modified_gmt":"2022-01-11T10:05:09","slug":"man-gets-a-pig-heart-transplant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lankatruth.com\/en\/?p=16776","title":{"rendered":"Man gets a pig heart transplant"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the first time in the world, a man in the US has got a genetically modified pig heart in a transplant.<br \/>The 57-year-old David Bennett is doing well three days after the operation, University of Maryland Medicine said in a news release on Monday.<br \/>David Bennett had terminal heart disease, and the pig heart was &#8220;the only currently available option,&#8221; according to the release. Bennett was deemed ineligible for a conventional heart transplant or an artificial heart pump after reviews of his medical records.<br \/>Bennett&#8217;s doctors will need to monitor him for days to weeks to see whether the transplant works to provide lifesaving benefits.
