An article in the Divaina newspaper has emphasized that the JVP leader Anura Dissanayake has brought the government to its knees by tabling in ParliamentParliament the agreement that the government had secretly signed with the New Fortress Company regarding the sale of shares in the Yugadanavi power plant.
The newspaper released today (19th) states, “JVP leader performs the duties of a cabinet minister!” It also emphasizes, “It is not wrong to say that the JVP brought the government to its knees. The JVP’s attack is to the entire ruling party.” Following are some excerpts from that article:
“The JVP is limited to three MPs represented in ParliamentParliament. Anura Kumara Dissanayake (Colombo District), Vijitha Herath (Gampaha), and National List MP Dr Harini Amarasuriya have launched a multi-barrel rocket attack on the ruling party.”
“The Pohottu government was able to pass the budget by a majority of 93 votes on December 10. All the parties that opposed the Yugadanavi agreement, the MPs, were in favour of the budget. However, the ruling party was inconvenienced due to the revelation regarding the Yugadanavi agreement made by the JVP leader six hours before the budget vote.”
“But on December 10, the history of the Sri Lankan Parliament will be written in golden letters. JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake tabled an international agreement hidden by the government. Did the JVP leader seize the power of a cabinet minister?”
