Pope Francis, who was on a diplomatic visit to Greece and Cyprus, returned to the Vatican on Monday with 50 refugees from a Greek refugee camp seeking political asylum. Currently, many foreign migrants are stranded between Greece, Cyprus, Belarus and Poland. The racist government in Poland is blocking their entry into the country, and the European Union has refused to accept these refugees from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan because of the influence of rising Nazi parties throughout Europe.
In the face of this crisis, the Pope has condemned the EU’s arbitrary decision and called on EU leaders to accept the helpless people trapped across European borders without any assistance. He called on the youth of Europe to vehemently reject Nazism that was rising throughout Europe.
Pope Francis arrived in the Vatican on December 6 with 50 orphans and told the media that he would bring another 50 in January. Earlier in 2016, Pope Francis brought 12 Syrians to the Vatican, stating that his parents were also immigrants who had come to Italy.
“There are many children and women among these helpless people. I urge EU leaders to open all the doors to Europe to end this crisis, which could be one of the greatest tragedies in human history.”
In a recent interview with the BBC, Belarusian President Alexandre Loukachenko also called on the European Union to recognize the more than 2,000 political refugees trapped in his country and end the crisis. In response, the United States, Canada and the European Union imposed new sanctions on Belarus, stating that Belarus had retaliated by providing visas and assistance and detaining foreign refugees at the Polish border, creating a crisis. The Belarussian president has vehemently denied the allegations.
Human rights activists say the EU and the United States have no moral right to reject civilians fleeing from the civil wars in Libya, Iraq, and Syria. They armed Islamic extremists to create civil wars despite having stable governments.<\/p>\n
