It is reported that the government has allowed Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Bagle to visit various parts of the country and spread his views on the full implementation of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.
The High Commissioner met with the leaders and representatives of all political parties in the North at Kokuvil in Jaffna on the 13th and reaffirmed India’s commitment to fully implementing the 13th constitutional Amendment. On several previous occasions, Indian leaders have called on the President and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka to fully implement the Amendment.
At present, a Deputy High Commissioner’s Office has been established covering the three districts of the Southern Province and the Moneragala District. The present government has freely allowed India to continue to influence the country’s internal political affairs by posing as the protector and saviour of the Tamil people in this country.
India got the 13th Amendment to the Constitution passed and established Provincial Councils in 1987 in accordance with the Indo-Lanka Accord after forcibly violating Sri Lanka’s airspace and dropping food rations to the people of the North.<\/p>\n
