A candidate needs not be a registered voter – EC |

It is not necessary to register as a voter to be appointed as a candidate for the presidential election states Commissioner of Elections Dayananda Dishanayake. The Commissioner said this issuing a special press release.
The Commissioner further states according to election law of the country being registered as a voter or not does not have an effect on being a candidate or being elected.
