 He has sent a letter of demand claiming Rs.1000 million from NFF Parliamentarians Mohommed Muzammil and Wimal Werawansa for falsely accusing him for bribing says UNP Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake. Speaking at a press conference held at the office of the Leader of the Opposition in Colombo yesterday (18th) Mr. Karunanayake said, “ I have sent letters of demand through counselor Arul Pragasam claiming Rs.1000 each from Chairmen, Members of Director Boards and Editors of state institutions SLRC, ITN, Lake House and Parliamentarians Wimal Weerawansa and Mohommed Muzammil. The total amount I have claimed from these gentlemen is Rs.20,000 million. I sent these letters of demand regarding telecasting; publishing and stating false news that a discussion was held at my residence regarding handing over Rs.3 million to Parliamentarian of NFF Mohommed Muzammil to get his support to Common Candidate Gen. Sarath Fonseka and falsely claiming that two ambassadors, Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe, Mr. Mangala Samaraweera and Mr. Malik Samarawickrema too participated in this discussion.”
UNP Leader Ranil “Wickremasinghe and Mr. Malik Samarawickrema too have sent separate letters of demand claiming Rs.1000 million from each of these individuals.
